These anti-DEI Executive Orders aim to eradicate DEI practices and end certain protections for people with marginalized and oppressed identities in both Federal and non Federal workplaces. While every DEI Executive Order is being challenged in Court, there is much uncertainty and fear which has resulted in many businesses and organizations reducing or eliminating their DEI efforts.
This workshop explores the anti-DEI Executive Orders, where they are currently in the Judicial System, and then provides a possible way forward in fostering inclusion and diversity in the workplace while adhering to the Executive Orders and without attracting lawsuits.
Goals for our time together:
Using the experience, wisdom and brilliance of participants we will work together to:
Foster a feeling of comfort and curiosity.
Increase participants' knowledge and understanding of the Trump Administration’s DEI Executive Orders, (as well as H. R. 9495), and where they currently are in the Courts.
Explore what these Executive Orders cannot do given The Constitution and current Federal Civil Rights Laws including Title VII.
Explore SHRMs’ BEAM (Belonging Enhanced by Access Through Merit) Framework for a possible way to move forward in fostering inclusion and diversity in the workplace while adhering to the Executive Orders and without attracting lawsuits.
Provide resources for continued knowledge building.
Provide opportunities to build connection, collaboration, support, and well being amongst Southern Nevada SHRM Chapter members. 1
