Big Sky SHRM's community partner for 2020 is Missoula Youth Homes.  Missoula Youth Homes is a non-profit organization that provides care for children that are facing abuse, neglect, emotional trauma, and substance abuse.  Missoula Youth Homes provides therapeutic group homes, foster care, adoption programs, and counseling services.

Missoula Youth Homes focuses on showing compassion to children that are facing an uphill battle, and provides them with resources to build healthy relationships. 

In lieu of just sending a check to our community partner for 2020 Big Sky SHRM opted to provide tangible items to the children of Missoula Youth Homes. Items that were provided to the children were gaming headphones, school planners, graphing calculators, water bottles, sketch books, and pencils. These items were delivered to Missoula Youth homes by our Big Sky SHRM President Alona Simonovich, and our Workforce Readiness/Diversity David Owen.

Bobi Grensten, the Program Director: I myself was taken back by the generosity of the school supplies donated. They went above and beyond in their selections of nice, quality items donated to our youth. 

 The kids were especially excited about the headphones and water bottles."Wow these are like fancy, gaming headphones" There were big smiles when they listened to music with them. All the youth couldn't wait to individualize their new water bottles with fun stickers. Several commented on how cool it was that the water bottles have different tops to them, saying "I've always wanted a water bottle like this" 

SHRM Certifications 

Please Congratulate Alona Simonvich and David Owen on passing their SHRM-SCP test this summer.  Alona and David both took advantage of the Big Sky SHRM certification study group that is instructed by Deanna Keller SHRM-SCP.  Big Sky SHRM strongly supports its members in achieving their certification, and one way they show it is by providing this exceptional study group session.  The study group is put on twice a year to help members prepare for success.  If you are interested in the study group and achieving your certification you can email education@bigskyshrm.org
