Letter From The President |
Barbara Blanchard 2010 Big Sky SHRM President |
President's Message |
Welcome to the Big Sky Chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) website. As the chapter president for 2010, it is my privilege to encourage you to join us as we bring programs and learning opportunities that benefit any profit or non-profit entity that has employees. You do not have to be a Human Resources professional to receive the benefits of our Chapter. We all share the duties and responsibilities of managing employees. Most business savvy experts can duplicate your product, your processes, or your services but not one of your competitors can duplicate your PEOPLE! Your employees set you apart; choose them wisely and treat them well. Whether you are part of a large company or a small company, you have the same responsibilities to each employee who works for you. There are state and federal regulations that are mandated and to which you must comply. There are industry practices that keep you at par with your competition, but there are also employee engagement practices that will help make yours a "workplace of choice." During our 2010 chapter year, we will have presentations that we hope will appeal to the small employer, the large employer, the beginning manager, and the most seasoned manager. Some of our programs will enhance technical expertise or teach legal requirements and some of our programs will enhance skills for operational efficiency, communication, or business acumen. The Society of Human Resources (SHRM) is the only professional organization that has an institute (Human Resource Creditation Institute HRCI) to test, validate, and award recognition for the body of knowledge required to manage employees. Our chapter can also help you study this body of knowledge for successfully testing and receiving recognition as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Thank you for visiting our website and we hope that you will be part of the growing membership that has made the choice to enhance their management skills toward their employees. Sincerely, Barbara Blanchard, SPHR President, Big Sky Chapter of SHRM |
